Q: What technology do you see holding the greatest promise for reduction in IT operating expense?
A: The implementation of Citrix, combined with Windows terminals, has reduced our IT operating expense tremendously. With Citrix, we are able to troubleshoot system problems in any one of our twelve locations from our main administration office where our data center is located. This has allowed the reduction of travel expense, the reduction of system downtime and the increase in system availability. It has also streamlined patch management and virus protection. Rather then having to schedule all our workstations for constant patch management and virus protection, we schedule three servers. Streamlining these items has allowed us to do more with fewer resources. In addition, the integration of BioPassword's keystroke biometric technology has also helped us to decrease call center time and resources, while increasing our security. In short, any technology that provides the ability to securely manage and support the systems of an organization remotely can only lead to a reduction in IT expenses.
